26TEN, along with LINC Tasmania and the Commissioner for Children and Young people, welcome you to attend an event to discuss why family literacy is critical to raising literacy levels in Tasmania.
Virginia Trioli, journalist and ABC News Breakfast presenter is the MC for the Q&A style discussion.
The support of parents and carers is crucial to developing language in their children in the early years and beyond. This means that it is vital we improve adult literacy if we are to lift literacy in Tasmania.
Discussing these issues will be Leigh Hobbs, Australia’s Children’s Laureate; Mark Morrissey, Commissioner for Children and Young People Tasmania and Chair of the B4 Coalition; Bill Jarvis, Principal, Gagebrook Primary School, LIFT Program; Kym Goodes, CEO TasCOSS and 26TEN Coalition member.
The event is presented by LINC Tasmania, the Commissioner for Children and Young People and 26TEN, Tasmania’s campaign for adult literacy.
The panel will be answering some questions on the day. If you have a question about family literacy for the panel, please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org and the panel will do their best to respond on the day.
A light breakfast will be served from 7.15 am. The panel discussion will begin at 7.45 am.
