About
Who We Are

About TasCOSS
The Tasmanian Council of Social Service (TasCOSS) is the peak body for the community
services sector in Tasmania. Our membership comprises individuals and organisations active
in the provision of community services to low income, vulnerable and disadvantaged
Tasmanians. TasCOSS represents the interests of its members and their clients to
government, regulators, the public, the private sector and to the media. TasCOSS meets
regularly with political leaders and other key decision makers, and is an active participant in
social and economic policy consultations, forums and committees.

TasCOSS is part of a national network comprising councils of social service in all states
and territories and the national body, the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS).
ACOSS addresses social, economic and other policy issues on a national level while the
others focus on issues affecting the states and territories.

TasCOSS is also committed to strengthening the community services sector in Tasmania and
is actively involved in sector development activities.

To perform all of these functions effectively, TasCOSS acts independently of government and
political parties and is responsive to the needs of its constituents.
